Volunteers Needed! Science Club 2010Click here for the tentative 2010 Science Club student schedule. The schedule is tentative because the children need more volunteers. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call Pam Magee at 682-3948 if you help with even 1 class. Unfortunately, classes without enough volunteers will have to be canceled. A modified version of Science Club is being planned for March of this year. It will involve 4 weekly after school meetings, 3:30pm - 4:30pm, offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays (based on interest and parent volunteer availability). This program is free and offers hands-on, age appropriate activities that explore with the participants science in our daily lives. All lesson plans and materials are provided by the HSA. Parental involvement is what makes this program possible. This is a scaled down version of what we usually do, so please don't be intimidated! You are invited to help in any of the existing roles or create a new role for yourself. Science Club Planner - Plan, schedule, structure, organize, and recruit. Give Pam Magee a "Thank you" when you see her. Group Coordinators - For a single group: Confirm that the volunteers in your group have received their Science Club information; Remind lesson volunteers several days before their scheduled lesson; Help your leaders resolve supply and volunteer issues. We need one of these for each group of 8 children. The coordinator does not need to attend the meetings each week. Parent lesson leaders – Read through the provided lesson plan. Pick up provided materials from HSA closet up to one week before your lesson is offered. Lead one lesson with the help of lesson assistant. Return materials to the closet and let the supply coordinator know if anything was depleted. Depending on the lesson, you might want to try it at home before leading the lesson. Click here for Lesson leader information details. Lesson assistants – Attend one lesson and assist the parent lesson leader with hands on activities described in the lesson plan. All materials are provided. Quartermaster - inventory, purchase, restock, and resupply experiments. Science Club registration may be done online or via the paper flyer coming home with the children. We ask that registrations are returned by February 5th. This year's lesson schedule, including day of the week, grade, classroom, and lesson title information for each of the 4 weeks of Science Club will be posted by February 12. Are you planning to purchase supplies for a Science Club lesson? Check with a Quartermaster (email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
