Student Activities

Activity Nights - Held one night a year. It is a fun night for the children.
Usually a couple of parents use their creative imagination to plan a small activity or kit construction.  It is a fun, social activity for an entire grade.  The children work and chat around the large tables in the cafeteria.  Parents bringing their children are deputized to help the hour activity goes smoothly.  Some past activities include: kits to make art items, bookmarks, hats, visors, parachutes.  (It you recall other activities or have suggestions, please let us know and we will add them here.)  Remember: All of these HSA activities happen because parents volunteer!

Kids Care Club is a volunteer organization that focuses on giving back to the community and educating children about the joy of volunteer activities.  Come and learn more about this club and its events.  We will be reviewing our schedule of events for the school year as well as starting our first event: making of food baskets from a local nursing home.  There will be a speaker to talk with the students regarding the purpose of nursing homes and there will be a craft to make cards for the resident baskets.  Parents / guardians are required to stay to assist their child with the craft.  We are in need of two parent volunteers for this meeting.  In 2010 we discussed diversity and tolerance.  Thirty hand-made Valentines were delivered to Alterra on Feb 11th.  Thank you to all who took the time to spread joy and love.
